Guyana : In WCPL 2025, Barbados Royals dominated as Shreyanka Patil and Aaliyah Alleyne starred in the team’s hat-trick title win.

After winning the toss and choosing to chase, Chinelle Henry-led Royals bowled superbly. The Warriors scored 136-3 in their 20-over game, with opening batter Amy Hunter top-scoring with 29 off 36 balls.

Reaching 100 seemed tough for the Warriors, but skipper Shemaine Campbelle and Dane van Niekerk steadied the innings with 28* and 27*, setting a respectable total.

The Royals’ bowlers struggled to take wickets but contained the opposition. Shamilia Connell, Afy Fletcher, and Alleyne each picked one wicket.

Chasing the target, the Royals lost openers Qiana Joseph and Chamari Athapaththu early in the powerplay.

Wicketkeeper-batter Kycia Knight and Courtney Webb added 31 each, keeping the chase alive. The Warriors’ bowlers struck regularly, making the pursuit challenging.

After losing three wickets in the 17th and 18th overs, the Royals needed a miracle. Patil hit crucial boundaries in the 18th over to revive the chase.

In the 19th over, Alleyne smashed 12 runs off Molly Penfold. The duo reduced the equation to four runs off six balls and finished the chase on the fourth delivery of the final over.

Barbados Royals secured their third consecutive WCPL title, completing a historic three-peat after winning in 2023 and 2024.
