New Delhi: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have strengthened their coaching lineup, confirming former England pacer Anya Shrubsole as Anya Shrubsole assistant coach for the upcoming 2026 edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The 2017 World Cup winner will work alongside newly promoted head coach Malolan Rangarajan, taking RCB’s #PlayBold philosophy forward.
Shrubsole, who retired from international cricket in 2022 with over 200 wickets across formats, brings a wealth of experience to the franchise. She previously served as player-assistant coach under Charlotte Edwards at Southern Vipers in England and now embarks on her first coaching stint in the WPL. RCB announced the appointment on X, highlighting her championship mindset and leadership qualities.
The coaching update follows Luke Williams’ departure, as the former RCB head coach will focus on his commitments with the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League. Shrubsole succeeds Sunetra Paranjape, who served as RCB’s bowling coach until 2025.
Alongside coaching changes, RCB recently confirmed the retention of key players, including Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry, and Shreyanka Patil ahead of the WPL 2026 mega auction. Mandhana, who led RCB to the WPL 2024 title, will continue as captain, while Perry, Ghosh, and Patil strengthen the squad, leaving RCB well-prepared for the upcoming season.
With the addition of Anya Shrubsole assistant coach, RCB aims to blend tactical expertise with championship experience, making them one of the most formidable teams in the league. Fans will be eager to see how this strategic mix of coaching and star players shapes RCB’s WPL 2026 campaign.
