Mumbai : Ultra Gas & Energy Ltd (UGEL), an Essar venture, has become India’s largest private operator of LNG refuelling outlets (ROs). The company currently runs six stations across major freight corridors.
The ROs operate in Bhilwara (Rajasthan), Anand (Gujarat), Chakan-Pune (Maharashtra), Jalna (Maharashtra), Toranagallu (Karnataka), and Vallam (Tamil Nadu). These locations provide efficient access to cleaner fuel for industrial and logistics hubs.
UGEL leads India’s largest LNG fuelling network. It helps commercial fleets switch to sustainable, low-emission transportation. The company also builds a complete LNG delivery ecosystem and offers cost-effective, low-carbon fuel through its growing retail network.
Each UGEL RO features future-ready infrastructure. The outlets include integrated electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities. This setup supports UGEL’s vision of multi-fuel, low-emission mobility. By enabling fleets to replace high-emission fuels with LNG and electric power, UGEL provides environmental and economic benefits.
UGEL plans to expand to 100 LNG retail outlets nationwide, supported by a Rs 900-crore investment. Expansion is underway in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Karnataka, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. This expansion will create a strong nationwide infrastructure for clean energy and transportation.
Maqsood Shaikh, Managing Director & CEO of UGEL, said, “Our outlets do more than dispense fuel. They act as catalysts for a cleaner, smarter logistics future. With robust infrastructure and intelligent energy solutions, we lead India’s shift toward greener fuels and sustainable mobility. UGEL focuses on innovation, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.”
The stations are strategically located in high-density logistics zones. They accelerate the shift from diesel to LNG, a cleaner and more efficient fuel for long-haul trucking. Each station handles up to 50 tonnes of LNG and refuels about 600 trucks per month. Collectively, the stations cut nearly one million tonnes of CO₂ annually, with each outlet reducing up to 66,000 tonnes.
To ensure uninterrupted operations, UGEL partners with IOCL, GAIL, HPCL, and other major LNG suppliers. These partnerships provide access to all major LNG terminals in India, ensuring consistent fuel supply and smooth scalability as UGEL expands nationwide.
