New Delhi : The recent Two-Wheeler GST Cut is set to benefit buyers across India as Yamaha, TVS, Bajaj Auto, and Royal Enfield announce price reductions on their motorcycles and scooters. This move comes after the GST Council reduced the tax rate on internal combustion engine (ICE) two-wheelers from 28% to 18%, making vehicles more affordable ahead of the festive season.
This move aligns Yamaha with other major industry players such as TVS, Bajaj Auto, and Royal Enfield, which had already announced similar reductions for buyers.
In its 56th meeting, the GST Council reduced the tax rate on internal combustion engine (ICE) two-wheelers from 28% to 18%. Experts say this is likely to make motorcycles and scooters more affordable, especially ahead of the festive season, boosting overall demand.
India Yamaha Motor stated that popular models including the R15, MT15, FZ series, Aerox 155, RayZR, and Fascino will see price reductions of up to Rs 17,500. Chairman Itaru Otani thanked the government for the “timely reduction” and confirmed Yamaha is passing on the full benefit to its customers.
TVS Motor Company also announced that motorcycles such as the Apache, Ronin, Raider, and Sport, along with scooters like Ntorq, Jupiter, and Zest, will be cheaper from September 22. However, its electric vehicles, including iQube, Orbiter, and TVS X, will not see price changes as GST on EVs remains unchanged.
Bajaj Auto revealed that its two-wheelers will get price cuts of up to Rs 20,000, while three-wheelers will become cheaper by up to Rs 24,000. Revised pricing will be reflected across all Bajaj and KTM models once the GST changes come into effect.
Royal Enfield said bikes under 350cc, including Classic 350, Bullet 350, Meteor 350, Hunter 350, and Goan Classic 350, will become more affordable due to the reduced GST. However, higher-capacity bikes such as Himalayan 450, Guerrilla 450, Scram 440, and the 650cc range will see price increases under the new GST structure.
Industry analysts believe these tax-driven price cuts will help revive demand in the two-wheeler segment and encourage first-time buyers, especially during the festive season.
