Patamundai, Kendrapara, Odisha : The tragic death of a female student in Patamundai, the Kendrapara Superintendent of Police has transferred ASI Shailendra Narayan Palai of the Rural Police Station to the district police headquarters. The move comes amid growing allegations of police negligence, particularly from the victim’s family, who claim that the ASI failed to register a prior complaint filed by the girl.
The SP has reportedly made the transfer to ensure a fair and unbiased investigation into the sensitive case.
The exact circumstances leading to the student’s death remain unclear. While initial reports suggest that the girl allegedly poured kerosene on herself and took her own life while alone at home, suspicions have been raised over the possibility of murder. To determine the cause of death conclusively, the victim’s body has been sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for a detailed post-mortem examination, instead of the earlier plan to conduct it at Kendrapara District Hospital.
Police are thoroughly investigating the student’s call detail records to identify whom she last spoke with and what conversations may have taken place shortly before her death. These details are expected to provide key leads in the case.
According to serious allegations made by the family, a young man—believed to be the girl’s ex-boyfriend—had been repeatedly blackmailing her using obscene photos after their breakup. It is alleged that the emotional distress caused by the blackmail may have led the girl to take the extreme step.
Police are pursuing all leads and examining both digital and physical evidence to uncover the truth behind the incident.
