New Delhi : Pakistan has named its Asia Cup Squad for the upcoming tri-series and Asia Cup in the UAE, highlighting a mix of experienced players and emerging talent. Salman Ali Agha will captain the side, leading Pakistan in both the tri-series and the eight-team Asia Cup scheduled between September 9-28.

Prominent members of the squad include Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, and Faheem Ashraf. Young talents such as Saim Ayub, Hasan Nawaz, and Mohammad Haris are also expected to make an impact. Notably, senior stars Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were excluded from the squad, having last appeared in the format during the South Africa series in December 2024.

Pakistan will first compete in a tri-series with the UAE and Afghanistan from 29 August to 7 September in Sharjah. The fixtures include:

  • 29 August – Afghanistan v Pakistan
  • 30 August – UAE v Pakistan
  • 1 September – UAE v Afghanistan
  • 2 September – Pakistan v Afghanistan
  • 4 September – Pakistan v UAE
  • 5 September – Afghanistan v UAE
  • 7 September – Final

Following the tri-series, Pakistan will feature in the Asia Cup, placed in Group A alongside Oman, India, and the UAE. Group matches are scheduled as follows:

  • 12 September – Oman v Pakistan, Dubai
  • 14 September – India v Pakistan, Dubai
  • 17 September – UAE v Pakistan, Dubai

The Super Fours will take place from 20-26 September in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, culminating in the final on 28 September in Dubai.

Pakistan has participated in the Asia Cup 15 times, winning twice under Moin Khan in 2000 and Misbah-ul-Haq in 2012. The 2025 squad blends youth and experience, aiming to reclaim continental glory while building momentum ahead of major ICC events.

The full Pakistan Asia Cup Squad includes Salman Ali Agha (c), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Waseem Jnr, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Sufyan Moqim.

Fans and cricket analysts are keen to see how the mix of emerging stars and seasoned players performs on the UAE pitches, with attention on the young talents making their mark.
