Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a review meeting of the Health and Family Welfare Department at Lokseva Bhavan today. The meeting focused on strengthening health services across the state and filling vacant positions in medical institutions.
The CM emphasized the urgent appointment of 1,840 doctors and over 5,000 paramedical staff to improve healthcare delivery. He also instructed that medical officers be posted in all regions as per rationalization plans, with special attention to tribal and underserved areas.
In addition, vacant assistant professor, associate professor, and professor positions in various medical colleges will be filled promptly to strengthen medical education. The CM stressed increasing PG seats, developing medical college infrastructure, and appointing technical staff for improved healthcare services.
The meeting also discussed establishing Integrated Trauma Care Centres in accident-prone areas, incentivizing doctors to work in challenging locations, and addressing issues faced by AYUSH doctors.
CM Majhi directed the health department to take immediate steps on recruitment, salaries, and medical education expansion.
Officials present included Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Finance Secretary Sanjeev Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary Shashwat Mishra, along with top officials from the Health Department, National Health Mission, and Odisha State Medical Corporation.
This initiative marks a major step in strengthening Odisha’s healthcare system, ensuring better access to medical services in rural and tribal areas, and improving overall health infrastructure.
