Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President Naveen Patnaik will return from Delhi on October 2 to inaugurate the party’s annual statewide public contact march, which aims to raise awareness about the failures of the BJP government. This march, focused on election constituencies, will run from Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 until November 2, covering one month.
The party held a preparatory meeting at Shankha Bhavan, where senior leaders including Deputy President Pratap Jena outlined the strategy for the march. The initiative honors Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary and also commemorates Gopabandhu and Jayaprakash Narayan. The march intends to expose the BJP government’s inability to address issues such as price hikes, increased violence against women, fertilizer shortages affecting farmers, and mismanagement in Panchayati Raj institutions.
Naveen Patnaik, who has been on a Delhi visit since September 7, will kick off the march from Bhubaneswar. Although the exact date of his return to Odisha remains unclear, the party has confirmed that he will launch the awareness campaign.
BJD leaders emphasized that the march will systematically communicate the hardships faced by various sections of society under BJP rule and promote the democratic voice of Odisha’s people.
The party will organize the month-long march at the grassroots level across all assembly constituencies in the state. It will highlight the administration’s failures on critical socio-economic issues affecting youth, farmers, and women while drawing widespread public attention.
Senior party functionaries such as Debi Prasad Mishra, Santrupt Mishra, Pratap Deb, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Uma Samantaray, and women’s wing president Snehangini Chhuria actively participated in preparing and planning this extensive campaign.
This public outreach program demonstrates BJD’s concerted effort to consolidate public opinion against the BJP government and prepare the ground for upcoming elections, strengthening democratic engagement by bringing citizen voices to the forefront.
