Bhubaneswar, 27th Sept 2025: Odisha is gearing up for Maritime Week Odisha 2025, a premier national event that will showcase the state’s maritime strengths, ports, and investment opportunities along the eastern coast. Recently, a preparatory meeting was convened by Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Commerce & Transport Department, Government of Odisha, to ensure the state’s participation is impactful and well-coordinated. Moreover, senior officials from Paradip, Dhamra, Gopalpur, and Subarnarekha ports, along with representatives from related departments and agencies, joined the meeting through video conferencing.
At the outset, Smt. Padhee underlined the significance of Maritime Week Odisha 2025 as a platform to highlight Odisha’s rich maritime heritage, strategic coastal position, and policy initiatives. She emphasized that Odisha’s long coastline positions the state as a gateway for trade and commerce, and consequently, it serves as an ideal hub for shipbuilding, coastal shipping, inland waterways, and other blue economy initiatives.
During the meeting, officials reviewed several preparatory activities, including Odisha’s participation in exhibitions and thematic sessions, presentation of the state’s maritime initiatives, and identification of investment opportunities. Additionally, they discussed logistics and coordination for ports, shipping lines, and allied sectors, preparation of sectoral reports, and development of communication materials to highlight port-led growth.
Furthermore, Smt. Padhee stressed the need for synergy among all ports and departments. Therefore, she directed the creation of a comprehensive action plan with clear timelines to cover infrastructure readiness, stakeholder participation, and outreach to investors and industry leaders. She also noted that Odisha’s showcase at Maritime Week Odisha 2025 would not only highlight existing port infrastructure but also underline the state’s potential as a maritime investment hub and contributor to the blue economy.
Finally, concluding the meeting, Smt. Padhee urged all stakeholders to collaborate closely to ensure Odisha’s presence at the event reflects the state’s vision for sustainable maritime development. With coordinated efforts, the state aims to attract investments, promote coastal shipping, and thereby strengthen its maritime growth on the eastern coast.
