Jharsuguda, Odisha : The Jharsuguda Junior Boys Hockey Team and Dilip Tirkey Sports Academy registered emphatic wins in the Odisha State-Level Inter-District Hockey Championship, showcasing young hockey talent from western Odisha.
At Panposh Hockey Stadium, the Jharsuguda Junior Boys team faced Shaheed Madho Singh Academy, Sambalpur, in a morning fixture. Jharsuguda secured a 3–1 victory, with goals scored by Anmol Jojo, Abhijit, and Buddho Toppo.
In the afternoon, Dilip Tirkey Sports Academy dominated their second-round clash against Deogarh, sealing a 5–0 win. Sandeep Saksa netted two goals, while Sunul Lakra, Abandh Lagun, and Anish Minj contributed one goal each. The team was managed by Shakun Nayak and Narayan Tamang.
To mark their achievements, the Jharsuguda District Collector and Hockey Association President Kunal Motiram Chavan, along with Additional District Collector Brajabandhu Bhoi, HOA Vice President Jeevan Mohanty, Sports Officer Tushar Kanti Mishra, Ashwini Pande, Sushant Behera, Clemend Ronald, and other officials, extended congratulations to the winning teams.
These victories highlight the rising standard of grassroots hockey in Odisha and the growing contribution of districts like Jharsuguda to the state’s sporting landscape.
