New Delhi : India-W pink jersey will make its debut in the third ODI against Australia-W as the team promotes awareness and unity. The special jersey highlights the team’s spirit and commitment both on and off the field.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a heartwarming video on social media showing the players wearing the special pink jerseys with ‘thanks a dot’ printed on them. In the video, players discussed the importance of the initiative.
BCCI wrote alongside the video: “Thanks A Lot #TeamIndia will wear special pink-coloured jerseys in the Third ODI today to promote Breast Cancer Awareness.”
Pratika Rawal, Sneh Rana, and Harmanpreet Kaur featured in the video. Opening batter Rawal said, “The pink jersey reminds us of a bigger fight, and the strength for this fight against breast cancer comes from early detection.”
Rana added, “This pink jersey is more than just a symbol. It calls us to build a life-saving habit.”
Harmanpreet Kaur said, “Every day we train for uncertainties, and this pink jersey reminds you to be prepared. Let’s make breast self-examination a monthly routine.”
At the end, the three players said, “Together, let’s fight breast cancer, practice a life-saving skill, and take a stand against the disease.”
India and Australia will face off in the series decider on Saturday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Australia won the series opener decisively, but India bounced back brilliantly to win the second ODI and level the series.
India’s victory marked history, as Australia suffered their biggest-ever loss in ODI cricket. After chasing 281 runs in the first match, Alyssa Healy’s side fell 102 runs short while chasing 292 in the second ODI, with the visiting captain acknowledging that the Women in Blue outplayed them.
