Angul, Odisha : A herd of 13 wild elephants strayed into the Hulurisigha area of Angul town late Tuesday night, leaving residents in a state of panic and sleeplessness. The massive animals reportedly emerged from the nearby forest around 10 PM and gradually made their way into residential localities.
Initially spotted by locals using flashlights, the elephants’ unexpected presence caused chaos as they roamed through streets and alleys. Frightened by the sight, many residents rushed out of their homes to witness the unusual scene, while others locked doors and windows in fear of possible destruction.
The herd continued to move across different parts of the town for nearly four hours. During this time, anxious citizens stayed awake, hoping that the elephants would not harm anyone or damage houses, crops, or property.
Fortunately, no casualties or major damage were reported by the end of the night. Forest officials suspect the elephants entered the town in search of food.
