CM to Disburse Subhadra Funds on Raksha Bandhan

Bhubaneswar : the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan (August 9), financial assistance under the Subhadra Yojana will be credited to the accounts of over 1 crore 2 lakh 40 thousand women across Odisha.

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will personally visit Jeypore in Koraput district to formally distribute the Subhadra installments. The symbolic launch underscores the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment through direct financial support.

In parallel, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida will visit the remote Kotia region, where she will inspect enrollment progress and ensure seamless delivery of benefits. She affirmed that the Subhadra funds will reach every household in Kotia, marking a significant milestone in last-mile delivery.

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has assured that nearly 1.88 lakh eligible women who were previously excluded from the Subhadra Yojana will be covered in a phased manner. Those who meet the eligibility criteria by August 9 will receive their first installment on that date, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida further stated that beneficiaries who are verified later and deemed eligible will receive the full installment amount by March 8. She also clarified that women with an annual income exceeding ₹2.5 lakh or those who fall under the income tax bracket will not be eligible for the scheme.

Highlighting the broader goal of the initiative, she said the scheme aims to foster financial independence among women, especially from economically weaker sections.

Launched within the first year of the BJP government’s tenure in Odisha, the Subhadra Yojana has already seen the enrollment of over 1 crore women. This wide-scale inclusion is being seen as a landmark achievement for the BJP-led state government, reinforcing its commitment to women-centric welfare policies.
