New Delhi : Cricket Australia (CA) has shifted the third Women’s One Day International (ODI) between Australia and India, originally scheduled for Sunday, March 1, 2026, to Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
Cricket Victoria (CV) informed CA that Junction Oval could not host the day/night game because delays in stadium lighting installation and ongoing groundwork would have blocked fan access.
The match could not proceed as a day fixture due to the short turnaround after the day/night ODI in Hobart on Friday, February 27. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) remained unavailable because of scheduled renovation work.
Peter Roach, CA Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling, said, “We are disappointed to move this match from Junction Oval and that Melbourne will not host a women’s international this season. We looked forward to celebrating the first international match under lights at Junction Oval.”
Roach added that CA appreciates Cricket Tasmania for hosting a second ODI in Hobart and encouraged Tasmanian fans to support the world champion women’s team. CA will automatically refund tickets purchased for the original venue within 24 hours.
The updated Hobart schedule is as follows:
-
Australia vs India, ODI (D/N) – Friday, February 27, 2026
-
Australia vs India, ODI (D/N, relocated) – Sunday, March 1, 2026
Cricket Australia emphasized that relocating the match ensures safe, accessible, and high-quality conditions for players and spectators. Fans can look forward to an exciting clash as Australia hosts India in this ODI series, with both teams vying to maintain their dominance in women’s cricket.
