Brajrajnagar, June 24: A fact-finding team headed by Smt. Alaka Mohanty, Hon’ble Ex-MLA of Brajrajnagar, along with prominent Biju Janata Dal leaders, conducted a visit today to various procurement centers and villages in Lakhanpur Block, where large quantities of Rabi paddy remain unsold and exposed to the elements due to administrative inaction.
The team comprised Tapas Roy Chowdhury, Sarbasri Harish Ganatra, Manoranjan Mohapatra, Sanat Singh, Pradip Biswal, Mitrabhanu Sahu, Sambhu Mohanty, Surendra Jaisawal, Tapan Radhakanta Pradhan, Rabi Ratna Pradhan, and others. They inspected the paddy stocks stored at farmers’ houses and open fields, many of which are now at risk due to the onset of monsoon rains.
The team strongly criticized the State Government for its failure to ensure timely registration of farmers, issuance of procurement tokens, and commencement of paddy purchases. With the harvesting season already underway and heavy rains setting in, farmers are struggling to protect their produce and manage the new harvest simultaneously.
The delegation has urged the State Government to take immediate and decisive action to resolve the crisis. Failure to do so, they warned, would push the farmers of Lakhanpur Block into a deeper state of distress and financial instability.
