Talcher, Odisha : Youth attacked in Balanda has once again highlighted rising crime in the region, as a shocking incident unfolded under Colliery Police Station on Friday. In broad daylight, the victim lost his valuables to assailants. Moreover, the rise in such robberies has sparked growing concern among locals about safety in the area.
According to the complaint filed at the police station, Raman Kumar Sitha (30), a resident of Anant Bihar Colony, faced an assault when he went to the Balanda Vegetable Market around 11 a.m. Furthermore, three youths — identified as Debashish Sahu, Vikas Sethi, and Jitendra Patnaik of Ghantapada village allegedly abused and beat him, leaving him unconscious on the spot.
Soon after the incident, local residents quickly rescued him and rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. In addition, reports confirm the attackers snatched his gold chain, necklace, bracelet, and a Vivo mobile phone before fleeing the scene.
Following the complaint, officials from South Balanda Police Station immediately began investigating the matter. However, police sources revealed that the accused remain absconding. Nevertheless, authorities assured that dedicated teams are working to trace and arrest them at the earliest.
Consequently, this incident has added to the series of robbery cases recently reported in the Balanda region, intensifying public fear and frustration. Therefore, residents demanded stricter police action and stronger patrolling to control the rising crimes.
