Bhubaneswar, Odisha : In a shocking incident that came to light after CCTV footage surfaced, a youth brutally assaulted an event host inside a lift at a residential-cum-commercial complex in the city. The incident occurred around midnight on August 3 at Royal Arcade in Raghunathpur, under Nandankanan police limits.
According to reports, the victim, identified as Jajati Parekh, was returning from an event held at a bar on the sixth floor of the complex. While taking the lift down, a heated argument broke out between him and a few others present in the lift. In the ensuing altercation, a youth named Ashwat allegedly became violent and physically attacked Jajati.
The accused reportedly assaulted the victim with a blunt object, leaving him bleeding inside the lift, before fleeing the scene. Though the incident happened days ago, it only came into public attention after the CCTV footage of the attack went viral on social media.
A written complaint has been lodged at the Nandankanan police station. As of now, no official statement has been received from the accused, Ashwat.
The police investigation is underway.
