“From Lord Jagannath’s sacred traditions to the glorious heritage of Konark, elephants remain an inseparable part of our identity,” the CM stated. Describing the elephant as the “engineer of the ecosystem,” he highlighted its vital role in preserving biodiversity and maintaining the health and prosperity of forests.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over the global decline of elephant populations, stressing that their conservation is a moral responsibility for all. “Our government is committed to ensuring a safe future for elephants through habitat protection, enrichment, and scientific measures to reduce human-elephant conflict,” he said.
The CM also pointed to exemplary steps taken by the state, including increased ex-gratia support for those affected by wildlife conflicts, and initiatives aimed at peaceful coexistence between humans and wildlife.
Concluding his message, he urged collective action: “Together, we can protect our National Heritage Animal. Let us pledge to safeguard our elephants for generations to come.”
