Jharsuguda, Odisha : A grand work order distribution ceremony under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) – 2.0 was held in Jharsuguda today, where 158 beneficiaries were handed over housing work orders. Additionally, 45 individuals were provided pensions under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana.
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Odisha’s Minister for Health, Family Welfare, Parliamentary Affairs, and IT, reiterated the state government’s commitment to the welfare of the urban poor, emphasizing that the government is working tirelessly to ensure housing and social security to the underprivileged.
Speaking at the event, the Minister stated that urban poor families are being empowered through housing support and welfare pensions, and assured that eligible beneficiaries will be provided with homes in a timely manner. He urged officials to ensure timely selection and construction completion under the scheme.
Bargarh MP Pradeep Purohit, who also addressed the gathering, highlighted the transformative impact of the PMAY on poor families and called for efficient execution of the scheme. He appealed for collective efforts to develop Jharsuguda into a model urban district.
Local MLA Tankadhar Tripathy echoed the sentiment, calling for non-partisan, united efforts to transform Jharsuguda into one of the most vibrant and beautiful cities in the state. He informed that steps are being taken to provide affordable flats to the economically weaker sections under the flat system.
The MLA also outlined upcoming development projects including:
- Drainage construction along both sides of the road from Jhanda chowk to Old Bus Stand
- Preparation of a Master Plan for Jharsuguda city
- Creation of an independent vending zone for street vendors
- Improvement of roads and drainage systems
He also expressed gratitude to the Health Minister for the ongoing efforts to make Mangala Bazar Hospital fully operational.
On the occasion of Sambalpuri Day, greetings were extended by the Minister, MP, and MLA to all present.
Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan, Municipality Chairperson Rani Hathi, and other dignitaries were present at the event. The Collector advised beneficiaries to complete housing construction within the stipulated timeframe and avail maximum benefits from the scheme.
Zilla Parishad Additional Executive Officer Surya Shubhranshu delivered the opening remarks, while Vice Chairperson of Jharsuguda Municipality Benugopal Panigrahi proposed the vote of thanks.
