Jagatsinghpur, Odisha : In a shocking incident from Raghunathpur area of Jagatsinghpur district, a woman was allegedly raped while grazing her goat. The accused reportedly dragged the woman into a nearby forest and committed the heinous act. Following the assault, the woman was brutally beaten, leaving her in a severely injured and bleeding state.
After being found lying in a field in critical condition, local villagers and her family members rescued her and rushed her to Raghunathpur Community Health Centre for treatment. She later filed a complaint at Raghunathpur police station with the help of her husband.
However, disturbing developments emerged regarding police handling of the case. After sending the woman for a medical examination, police reportedly discharged her and sent her home on foot — despite her weakened condition and the 10-kilometre distance to her village. While walking back at night, she collapsed unconscious on the roadside due to her deteriorating health. Locals again came to her aid and admitted her back to the health centre.
This incident has triggered widespread anger among the locals over the lack of police sensitivity and support. Citizens are questioning how a rape survivor in such a frail state was allowed to walk home alone at night without any security or transport assistance.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the case, but the accused remains at large. As public outrage grows, pressure is mounting on law enforcement to swiftly apprehend the perpetrator and ensure justice for the victim.
