Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have arrested six militants from different banned outfits, including a woman cadre, during a series of coordinated operations across multiple districts. The crackdown also led to the recovery of arms, ammunition, Aadhaar cards, and incriminating documents, officials confirmed on Sunday.
According to police, the arrested militants belonged to Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), and People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The arrests took place in Kakching, Imphal West, and Thoubal districts, where joint teams have intensified search and area domination operations.
Officials said the accused were involved in extortion, intimidation, and collecting forced subscriptions from locals, government employees, and contractors. Moreover, security forces have stepped up naka checkpoints across the hills and valley to prevent the movement of militants and illegal activities.
As part of the ongoing security measures, forces continue to escort essential supply convoys along the Imphal–Jiribam National Highway (NH-37) to ensure safe movement of vehicles. Authorities have also warned citizens against spreading fake videos or rumours on social media, emphasizing that such actions will invite strict legal consequences.
Police have urged people to remain vigilant, verify information with the Central Control Room, and immediately return any looted arms or explosives to the nearest police or security post.
With this latest operation, Manipur’s security forces reaffirm their commitment to restoring stability and curbing insurgent activity across the state.
