Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, recently conducted a detailed review of ongoing road and bridge construction projects in Western Odisha under the Public Works Department (PWD). The review focused on key districts including Bolangir, Sonepur, and Patnagarh.

During the inspection, Singh Deo evaluated the progress of several critical projects, including road expansions, bypass constructions, and bridge works. Moreover, he instructed departmental officers to expedite ongoing works to ensure completion within the prescribed timelines. As a result, these infrastructure improvements are expected to enhance connectivity and provide modern transport facilities to local residents.

Accompanying the Deputy CM were PWD and Law & Revenue Minister Shri Prithviraj Harichandan, PWD department heads, and senior administrative officials including Chief Secretary Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh. Previously, during his Delhi visit, Singh Deo coordinated with the Ministry of Environment and Forests to secure environmental clearances for these projects, ensuring that all legal and regulatory approvals were in place.

The Deputy CM also emphasized environmentally conscious development. Specifically, he advised that existing trees along new or expanded roads should not be cut and called for proper replantation measures during construction. Additionally, road expansion works should focus on creating four-lane highways where feasible to improve traffic flow without harming the local environment.

Singh Deo noted that completion of these projects will significantly benefit transport and mobility in Western Odisha, while also providing a modern infrastructure framework for local communities. Furthermore, improved roads and bridges will facilitate better connectivity for trade, agriculture, and daily commuting, boosting economic opportunities in the region.

Senior officials from the Public Works Department and other concerned authorities attended the review meeting, ensuring accountability and strategic planning for the timely execution of these projects.
