New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on Indians to celebrate Diwali by embracing Swadeshi products, thereby promoting national pride in local craftsmanship and innovation. This aligns with the goals of the Vocal for Local Diwali 2025 initiative.
On Saturday, PM Modi shared a post on X, urging the nation’s 140 crore citizens to buy Indian-made goods and proudly declare: “Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai!” Additionally, he encouraged people to share their purchases online to inspire others and support domestic artisans and manufacturers.
Meanwhile, a vibrant two-minute video from MyGovIndia stars Bollywood icons Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Tripti Dimri, Anupam Kher, Sunil Grover, and Rupali Ganguly, along with singer Shankar Mahadevan. The clip shows bustling markets adorned with lights, as families shop for sweets, sarees, shoes, and electronics all Made in India, resonating with the spirit of Vocal for Local Diwali 2025.
Furthermore, the video highlights local hotspots such as Men’s Collection in Old Delhi, Mandore Bazar in Jodhpur, Lighthouse in Dehradun, and Pure Education Collection in Kolkata’s Tollygunge. It also features Indian-made vehicles, appliances, smartphones, and laptops, crafted by young innovators, showcasing the core of the Vocal for Local Diwali 2025.
In addition, PM Modi encourages citizens to take selfies with products or artisans and share them on the NaMo app, promising to repost select entries. This is a great way to participate in the Vocal for Local Diwali 2025.
This initiative aligns with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) campaign, launched in 2020, aiming to boost domestic production and reduce imports. Experts note that it could stimulate the economy, especially since consumer spending typically jumps 20–30% during Diwali.
Overall, with festivals approaching, PM Modi’s call encourages a Swadeshi shopping spree, blending patriotism with celebration and supporting local businesses.
