New Delhi : The Central government has released a gazette notification to honour the bravery of India’s defence personnel during several operations, including the recently completed Operation Sindoor. Moreover, the notification highlights their courage, skill, and quick decision-making under tough conditions.
President Droupadi Murmu approved 127 Gallantry Awards and 40 Distinguished Service Awards for officers and staff of the Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces. These awards include 4 Kirti Chakras, 15 Vir Chakras, 16 Shaurya Chakras, 58 Sena Medals (Gallantry), and 26 Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry), showing recognition for acts of bravery and strong leadership.
In addition, the President recognised 290 personnel in dispatches, including 115 from the Army, 5 from the Navy, 167 from the Air Force, and 3 from the Border Roads Development Board (BRDB).
Colonel Koshank Lamba of the 302 Medium Regiment earned the Vir Chakra for leading a quick air mobilisation of a special equipment battery under strict secrecy. As a result, he ensured that personnel and equipment reached the required locations on time.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Sushil Bisht of the 1988 (Independent) Medium Battery received the Vir Chakra for leading an operation that destroyed several terrorist camps. His planning and courage helped his team achieve full success.
From the Indian Air Force, Group Captain Ranjeet Singh Sidhu commanded precise strike missions against enemy targets, earning the Vir Chakra. Also, Group Captain Animesh Patni led a Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) squadron from a forward base and destroyed enemy assets without losing any personnel or equipment.
Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik carried out a high-risk midnight mission into enemy territory to neutralise fortified positions. Similarly, Squadron Leader Siddhant Singh led a three-aircraft team in a precision strike, showing excellent flying and teamwork in heavily defended airspace.
Overall, the notification shows the initiative, leadership, and skill of these officers, proving the Indian Armed Forces’ commitment to keeping the nation safe and ready to face any threat.
