Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, inspiring school students nationwide to innovate, develop solutions, and showcase their creativity for a self-reliant, progressive India.
New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 on Tuesday, emphasizing the government’s focus on motivating school students to ideate and build innovative products. Moreover, the initiative aims to cultivate problem-solving skills from an early age.
During the event, the Minister unveiled the Buildathon’s jingle and logo and said, “This initiative will celebrate student innovations, spark an innovation renaissance in the country, and consequently make young generations key drivers of Samriddhi, Viksit, and Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, organizes the Buildathon in collaboration with the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and AICTE. Accordingly, officials described it as a nationwide innovation movement that will actively engage students across India.
The Buildathon inspires creative thinking for national development, promotes self-reliance and sustainable growth, and encourages schools to participate in synchronized innovation. Furthermore, it showcases India as a global innovation hub through a potential world record while honoring young problem-solvers on national and global stages.
The initiative builds on the success of the School Innovation Marathon 2024, which generated programs like the Student Innovator Programme (SIP) and Student Entrepreneurship Programme (SEP), alongside patents and startups emerging from Atal Tinkering Labs.
Students can register on the Viksit Bharat Buildathon portal (https://vbb.mic.gov.in/) from September 23 to October 6. Subsequently, schools will prepare from October 6 to October 13, as teachers guide student teams through the registration process.
Students will then submit their ideas and prototypes on the portal. Next, the Live Synchronised Innovation Event, the Buildathon’s core activity, will take place on October 13.
Afterward, students can submit their final entries from October 13 to October 31. Finally, a panel of experts will evaluate the submissions from November 1 to December 31.
The Buildathon will conclude in January 2026 with the announcement of results and the felicitation of the top 1,000-plus winners, thus celebrating innovation and creativity among India’s youth.
