Jharsuguda, Odisha : Vedanta Aluminium conducts fire safety awareness program at Government High School, Sarbahal, under its Agni Jagrukta initiative, engaging over 150 students and staff in critical fire prevention and emergency response training. Moreover, the program aimed to create a strong foundation for safety awareness among young students.

The program focused on sensitizing students to essential safety measures through interactive discussions and live demonstrations. Additionally, experts from Vedanta Aluminium’s fire safety team guided participants on preventive measures to avoid fire hazards, safe evacuation procedures, and basic emergency response strategies. Students and teachers actively participated in hands-on demonstrations of fire extinguisher usage, gaining practical confidence to handle real-life emergencies.

C. Chandru, CEO of Vedanta Jharsuguda, said, “At Vedanta Aluminium, safety is not just a workplace priority, it is a community responsibility. Through initiatives like Agni Jagrukta, we aim to instill safety awareness at the grassroots level, empowering young minds with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in emergencies. By engaging students in hands-on learning, we are therefore nurturing a generation that values preparedness, responsibility, and collective well-being.”

Tanmayee Shubhashree, Headmistress of Government High School, Sarbahal, added, “This training is a valuable initiative that makes our school a safer place for children. Consequently, students are better equipped to handle unexpected situations, and this knowledge will stay with them throughout their lives.”

As part of the ongoing Agni Jagrukta initiative, Vedanta Aluminium has trained over 500 students across five schools in Jharsuguda. Furthermore, the program aims to expand to more educational institutions in the coming months, promoting a culture of safety that extends beyond classrooms into homes and communities.

Vedanta Aluminium’s approach to community development goes beyond industrial growth, emphasizing education, health, skill-building, and safety. Also, its targeted initiatives aim to bring meaningful change to host communities, empowering residents with practical knowledge and sustainable development opportunities.

Vedanta Aluminium, a business of Vedanta Limited, is India’s largest aluminium producer, manufacturing over 2.42 million tonnes in FY25. The company leads in value-added aluminium products, which find applications in core industries, and ranks 2nd in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2024 for the aluminium sector—a reflection of its robust sustainability practices.

With world-class smelters, an alumina refinery, and power plants in India, Vedanta Aluminium continues to advance emerging applications of aluminium as the “Metal of the Future.” Meanwhile, initiatives like Agni Jagrukta demonstrate the company’s commitment to creating safer, empowered, and more aware communities. As a result, students gain knowledge and confidence that contribute to community resilience.

By integrating industrial excellence with social responsibility, Vedanta Aluminium ensures that its operations benefit both the economy and the people, therefore building safer, more resilient communities across Jharsuguda and beyond.
