Boudh, Odisha : Under the Central Government’s flagship programme “Ullas – Nav Bharat Literacy Mission,” the basic literacy and numeracy evaluation exam was successfully held across primary and upper primary schools in Boudh district. Conducted by the District Education Department, the initiative aims to empower adults. It focuses on essential reading, writing, and calculation skills.
District Education Officer Temlal Dubey personally visited several exam centres in Boudh, Bijepur Panchayat, and Harabhanga Block. He went to review the arrangements. Additional District Education Officer Chudamani Barik, District Science Inspector Jayant Kumar Pradhan, along with Group Education Officers and CRCCs from all three blocks, also inspected the centres. They supervised the exam process.
A total of 12,995 candidates aged 15 years and above appeared for the Ullas Literacy Exam Boudh. The participation count included 5,095 from Boudh Block, 4,025 from Harabhanga, and 3,875 from Kantamal Block. Of the total examinees, 4,501 were men and 8,494 were women. This indicates that more women showed enthusiasm for learning and literacy.
The Ullas exam marks a significant milestone in the district’s journey toward 100% literacy. It reflects the success of the government’s educational initiatives. Additionally, it shows the growing awareness among rural communities about the power of education.
Officials noted that the overwhelming response from women learners symbolises a positive shift in societal attitudes toward education and empowerment. As Boudh continues to progress under the Ullas Literacy Mission, the district sets an inspiring example. It serves as a model for others across Odisha and India.
