Talcher, Odisha : Talcher residents demand permanent water, submitting a memorandum to Sub-Collector Sameer Kumar Jena. They urged the authorities to ensure free and clean drinking water through District Mineral Fund (DMF) projects and CSR initiatives, emphasizing the urgent need for a permanent water supply for every household in Talcher. Talcher residents demand this essential service to improve their quality of life.
The memorandum highlights that, under Article 21 of the Constitution, residents have the right to basic necessities including education, health, electricity, and drinking water. Talcher residents demand permanent water as a fundamental right that authorities have neglected. Locals said authorities have deprived them of their basic rights by delaying water supply projects.
The Talcher community requested the construction of a dedicated project to provide free and safe drinking water to each family through DMF and CSR funds.
They stressed that such a project would not only address long-standing water scarcity issues but also improve overall public health in the region. Therefore, Talcher residents strongly demand that permanent water solutions be urgently prioritized by the administration.
Furthermore, during the memorandum submission, prominent local figures such as Ranjit Kumar Mahapatra, Abhaya Pani, Bibhuti Bhushan Patnaik, Praful Nayak, Jinesh Sahu, Gopinath Sahu, Manas Ranjan Behera, Santosh Sahu, and Harihar Das were also present. Moreover, their participation highlighted the strong sense of unity and community support behind the initiative.
The residents appealed to the administration to take immediate action, ensuring that all households in Talcher receive a sustainable and permanent drinking water supply.
