Talcher, Odisha: The Talcher Jan Vikas Kalyan Sangh has initiated an employment investigation in coal mines, submitting a demand letter to the Sub Collector. Recently, Talcher Jan Vikas Sangh demands probe into the service registers, which are crucial to ensuring fair jobs for displaced Talcher youth and urges faster national highway construction.

A delegation led by Sangh President Bhupen Thumb met Sub Collector Sameer Kumar Jena and handed over the letter. The petition urged the local administration to review the service registers of all contract firms in the coal mines. Moreover, they seek to verify how many displaced people have received employment as per government norms.

The petition further mentioned that the local administration should directly review the service registers of all contract firms. These firms are operating in the coal mines. According to government guidelines, the review must clarify how many positions the displaced persons have received. This should align with the local employment policy.

To remove doubts that some individuals are selling jobs to the youth of Talcher, the petition urged the administration and companies to set up a local recruitment office. This office would maintain records of all companies and contract firms working in the mines. It will help displaced individuals in affected areas easily access verified employment-related information.

The delegation also urged the administration to expedite the 4-lane road project. This would span from Godibandh on National Highway No. 149 to Bahlar via Banarpal. They emphasized that although coal mining has continued in Talcher for over a century, the authorities have yet to create a permanent system. This system should ensure employment for the youth from the affected regions.

Sangh members warned that if the administration ignores their demands, the organization will launch a mass movement. This movement aims to press for action. Members, including Editor Drumad Kumar Pradhan, attended the meeting and supported the submission of the letter.
