Sydney : Sydney car accident children results in an infant’s death and leaves a five-year-old boy seriously injured after a car struck them in Minto, southwest of Sydney. Authorities from New South Wales (NSW) police responded immediately and launched an investigation into the tragic incident.
New South Wales (NSW) police said on Monday that emergency services responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in a shopping centre carpark in Minto, 37 km southwest of Sydney, at around 3:30 p.m. local time, Xinhua news agency reported.
Officers arrived and performed CPR on the five-month-old girl until ambulance paramedics took over, but she died at the scene.
Paramedics treated the five-year-old boy and transported him to the hospital in serious condition.
Local media reported that the vehicle involved was an SUV. Police confirmed that the 35-year-old driver escaped uninjured.
Police established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident.
A similar tragedy occurred on September 10, when a vehicle crashed into a dam over 500 km north of Sydney, killing a young girl.
NSW police said emergency services responded after a vehicle plunged into the dam near Tenterfield, 540 km north of Sydney in the New England region.
The black SUV collided with a tree before entering the dam, police said.
Paramedics pulled an 11-year-old girl unresponsive from the water, but she died at the scene.
The 50-year-old female driver survived and paramedics treated her at the scene before transporting her to the hospital in stable condition.
NSW Police said officers from the crash investigation unit established a crime scene and began investigating the incident.
