Bhubaneswar: The Subhadra Ekata Padayatra in Bhubaneswar was held with great enthusiasm to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Organized by the Women and Child Development Department, the rally began from Master Canteen. It concluded at Rajmahal Square, spreading a strong message of women’s unity and empowerment.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida led the march and highlighted that women’s empowerment is essential for building a prosperous Odisha. She emphasized that empowered women not only support their families but also strengthen the economy. Moreover, she pointed out that the Subhadra Scheme, launched by the state government, has already transformed countless lives. It achieves this by providing financial assistance and promoting self-reliance.
So far, more than one crore women have benefited under the scheme, receiving financial aid of over ₹15,000 crore. Consequently, many women have become economically independent, contributing actively to local development.
In addition, the Deputy CM announced that the Subhadra Portal will reopen for new registrations from November 1 to November 30, 2025. This window will help eligible women register for benefits under the 2025-26 financial year. However, registration will not be available in Nuapada district due to the model code of conduct.
Furthermore, applicants aged 21 years and above (as of April 1, 2025) can apply online or through Anganwadi centers, Mission Shakti groups, and Mo Seba Kendras. They can also register free of cost at Janasewa Kendras using their Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers. After approval, beneficiaries will receive assistance in two installments annually.
Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, Principal Secretary Shubha Sharma, and several senior officials attended the event. They encouraged women to utilize every available government scheme for their upliftment.
Ultimately, the Subhadra Ekata Padayatra in Bhubaneswar stood as a symbol of solidarity and hope. It not only celebrated the strength of women but also reaffirmed Odisha’s commitment to inclusive growth and equality.
