Bhubaneswar: In a unique initiative to strengthen traffic management in the Twin City, students have now stepped up to assist the police in regulating vehicular movement. Commissioner of Police, S. Devdatta Singh, informed that 53 students have been inducted as traffic volunteers under the Commissionerate Police.
These student volunteers have been provided with designated uniforms and caps to identify their official role. Wearing the prescribed gear, they will actively assist in traffic control duties alongside police personnel.
According to Commissioner Singh, this collaboration is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. He emphasized that the students’ participation will not only boost manpower but also foster a sense of civic responsibility among the youth.
“This initiative will make traffic management more robust, and we anticipate a visible reduction in traffic issues,” said Singh, adding that such involvement could inspire wider community participation in urban governance.
