Bhubaneswar : In a significant development for intra-state air travel, Star Air has announced the commencement of direct flight services between Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda, starting August 16. The new route aims to enhance regional connectivity in Odisha and support the growing demand for affordable, convenient air travel.
The airline has introduced competitive introductory fares—₹1,599 from Bhubaneswar to Jharsuguda and ₹1,699 on the return journey. Jharsuguda, often referred to as the industrial capital of western Odisha, is home to major industries including coal mining, aluminum production, and thermal power generation. Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar, the state capital, is a leading center for administration, education, and information technology.

The airline will operate Embraer E175 aircraft on the route, offering 76 seats in a comfortable 2×2 seating layout, with both economy and business class options. The service is expected to benefit both business and leisure travelers, providing reliable and comfortable options at competitive prices. A key player under the Government of India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, Star Air has completed six years of uninterrupted service and has carried nearly 1.5 million passengers. The airline currently operates 300 weekly flights, a number that is expected to grow to 350 during the upcoming season. Notably, Star Air is the only regional airline to have operated all routes allotted to it under the UDAN scheme—a testament to its reliability and commitment to regional growth.
The airline also continues to enhance the passenger experience by offering hot meals and beverages onboard across all routes and maintaining a premium standard of comfort with modern aircraft like the Embraer E175 and E145.
