Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Khordha District Collector Shri Amrit Ruturaj chaired a review meeting at the Circuit House conference hall in Bhubaneswar to finalize arrangements for the Senior Citizens Pilgrimage Scheme for the current financial year.
Under this scheme, senior citizens will travel from Bhubaneswar to Ayodhya and Varanasi in the first phase. Officials discussed in detail their responsibilities to ensure the pilgrims’ safety and convenience.
The government will involve 775 senior citizens from Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Dhenkanal districts. Twenty-five officials will accompany them to provide full support during the journey. Pilgrims will leave Bhubaneswar on September 10 and return on September 15.
The administration arranged temporary accommodations at five government institutions in Bhubaneswar, including Capital High School, Unit 9 Girls and Boys High Schools, Bharat Scouts & Guides, and Bhim Bhoi Government High School for the visually impaired. The officials will provide food, drinking water, health check-ups, sanitation facilities, and evening spiritual discourse sessions for the pilgrims.
District collectors and officials will closely monitor the arrangements and implement all plans effectively.
The meeting included Khordha Additional District Collector Shri Pratap Chandra Beura, Bhubaneswar Additional District Collector Shri Rudra Narayan Mahanti, Bhubaneswar Sub-Collector Dr. Manoranjan Sahu, Tourism Deputy Director Shri Anjan Kumar Barik, Khordha Tourism Development Officer Mira Behera, and senior police, fire, and voluntary organization officials.
This initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and spiritually enriching pilgrimage experience for Odisha’s senior citizens.
