Sambalpur : Western Odisha erupted in vibrant celebration today as thousands came together to mark Sambalpuri Day, honouring the legacy of language and literary pioneer Satyanarayan Bohidar on his birth anniversary. The occasion was observed across multiple districts with traditional attire, folk dances, songs, and regional cuisine, turning towns and villages into cultural hubs.
Dressed in colourful Sambalpuri outfits, people of all ages took part in street performances and community feasts, showcasing the rich heritage of the Sambalpuri language, art, and culture. The event, celebrated annually, aims to promote linguistic pride and preserve the traditions unique to the region.
Various organisations have been actively observing this day for years, organizing events that bring focus to the Sambalpuri identity. The rhythmic beats of dhol and madal echoed through the air as dancers and musicians enlivened public spaces.
On this special day, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Chief Minister Of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi extended his greetings to the people of Western Odisha through a video message, appreciating their efforts to preserve and promote regional culture.
