Bhubaneswar : Major railway traffic disruptions are expected in Odisha as the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced the cancellation and diversion of several trains due to upgradation work at Sambalpur railway station. The development work is scheduled to take place in phases throughout August, leading to widespread changes in train operations.
According to the official release, 28 trains will be fully cancelled and 10 trains diverted, while 8 trains will face partial cancellations during the scheduled maintenance window.
Full Train Cancellations:
From August 6 to 14, trains like Bilaspur–Titlagarh Passenger, Titlagarh–Raipur Passenger, and Sambalpur–Junagarh Road Passenger will remain cancelled.
From August 7 to 15, several other services including Raipur–Titlagarh Passenger, Titlagarh–Bilaspur Passenger, Balangir–Purunakatak Passenger, Purunakatak–Balangir Passenger, Balangir–Sonepur Passenger, and Sonepur–Balangir Passenger will also be suspended.
From August 7 to 16, Sambalpur–Rayagada Express, Junagarh Road–Sambalpur Passenger, and Sambalpur–Puri Express will be cancelled in both directions.
The Sambalpur–Nanded Express will remain cancelled on August 8, 10, 11, and 15.
In addition to the full cancellations, 10 trains will be diverted through alternate routes, and 8 trains will be partially cancelled during this period. Details of these changes will be available on the ECoR website and station notice boards.
The decision is part of the station modernization initiative aimed at improving infrastructure and passenger amenities at Sambalpur. Passengers are advised to check the latest updates before planning their travel and make alternative arrangements accordingly.
