Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Saksham Anganwadi Odisha mission received a major boost on Tuesday as Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida inaugurated 913 newly constructed Anganwadi centers through virtual mode. She announced that the state government will transform all 74,224 Anganwadi centers into Saksham Anganwadi centers under the directive of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Parida announced that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had directed the government to upgrade all 74,224 Anganwadi centers into Saksham Anganwadi centers. She said the government aims to create safe, modern and functional spaces for children, women, and communities.
“These centers represent a new beginning. After years of waiting, 913 Anganwadi centers now have their own permanent buildings. Our mission is to make every Anganwadi in Odisha Saksham—capable of delivering quality early childhood care, nutrition, and learning,” Parida said.
The Deputy CM asked district collectors to focus on centers in disaster-prone regions and ensure that they receive special attention. She also underlined the growing success of the “Asa Bulijiba Anganwadi” campaign, where more than 2.99 lakh people have participated, turning the initiative into a mass movement.
Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Ravi Narayan Nayak joined the event virtually from Sambalpur. He pledged to strengthen sanitation and drinking water facilities in every Anganwadi and stressed that these centers would form the base for Viksit Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047.
Anganwadi workers and helpers from across districts joined virtually and thanked CM Majhi and Dy CM Parida for the new facilities. Many expressed happiness that the new centers would allow them to serve communities more effectively.
Senior officials, including Women and Child Development Secretary Monisha Banerjee and Panchayati Raj Additional Secretary Arup Kumar Sahu, attended the event. District collectors, development officers, and child welfare officers also participated virtually.
With these new centers, the Odisha government plans to expand nutrition services, improve maternal health, and empower women and children. The inauguration marks an important step toward creating a stronger social welfare network across the state.
