Bhubaneswar, Odisha: Good news for Jagannath devotees interested in acquiring the sacred materials of Lord Jagannath and his siblings to sale. Those who are interested in keeping the sacred things of Lord Jagannath and his siblings’ deities during Rath Yatra can purchase them. Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has again initiated the process to sell the chaka (wheels) and other wooden components of the chariots used during the 2025 Rath Yatra. For this, SJTA has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to regulate the sale of the sacred materials.
As per the report, three chariots — Nandighosha of Lord Jagannath, Taladhwaja of Lord Balabhadra, and Darpadalana of Goddess Subhadra — remain unsold in the first attempt. SJTA has initiated the second phase of sale with a new SOP. They have invited applications. Also, the temple administration has fixed 10th November as the last date for submission of applications.

According to the new SOP, SJTA fixed the price of the Nandighosha Rath chaka at ₹3 lakh. SJTA has priced the Taladhwaja Rath chaka at ₹2 lakh and the Darpadalana Rath chaka at ₹1.5 lakh. The administration will sell each chariot’s guja and anshuari parts for ₹15,000. SJTA also announced that it will hand over the sacred materials within 15 days of purchase.
On the other hand, devotees and servitors have expressed concern over the price. They said that though many devotees are interested in taking sacred material as blessings from the Lord, the price has become a reason to think about it.
With the revised SOP, the administration hopes for a better response from interested devotees and organisations. “We have reviewed and revised the SOP. We hope interested parties must submit applications to take the sacred materials of the holy trinity,” said an official of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration.
As per sources, one of the sacred wheels may soon find a place in the Parliament building in New Delhi. The Chief Administrator of SJTA is likely to initiate the process. SJTA has not only revised the SOP to sell the sacred materials but also taken steps to preserve the sanctity of the chariot parts of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra.
