Sundargarh, Odisha: In a heart-wrenching incident, RPF (Railway Protection Force) Head Constable T. Soreng (35), a native of Chudibasti in Bandhamunda, Sundargarh district, lost his life in a fatal road accident.
The mishap occurred while Mr. Soreng was en route to his duty station at Kechubahal from Jharsuguda on a motorcycle. A speeding trailer truck reportedly rammed into him from behind, causing him to be thrown off his bike and suffer critical injuries.
Local residents rushed to the scene and immediately transported him to the nearest government hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The untimely demise of Head Constable Soreng has cast a pall of gloom over the RPF community. After a post-mortem on Tuesday, his mortal remains were brought to his residence in Chudibasti, Bandhamunda for final rites.
Mr. Soreng is survived by his wife and two children. The Railway authorities have assured the bereaved family of all necessary support and appropriate compensation.
Railway officials expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving family. An internal inquiry into the accident has been initiated.
