Jharsuguda, June 18: A newly renovated cattle shelter located in Marwadi Pada of Jharsuguda municipality was officially inaugurated on Wednesday afternoon. The renovation work of the 140-year-old cowshed was entirely undertaken by the JSW Foundation.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Jharsuguda MLA Shri Tankadhar Tripathy, who attended as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the historical significance of the cowshed and appreciated the collective support of the local community in its revival. He further announced that additional development initiatives will be taken up to enhance the facility in the near future.
Highlighting the state government’s initiatives to boost dairy production, Shri Tripathy informed attendees about the Chief Minister’s Kamadhenu Yojana. He explained that the scheme aims to empower rural and urban youth by promoting self-reliance through dairy farming. Under the scheme, women and individuals from SC/ST communities are eligible for up to 70% subsidy on the purchase of cattle.
The MLA advised the public to take full advantage of this opportunity and revealed that a buyer-seller meeting for cattle, approved by the state government, will be held on July 2. This initiative is expected to benefit aspiring dairy farmers, especially the youth in rural areas, by ensuring easy access to milch cows.
Shri Tripathy expressed hope that the scheme would not only boost milk production in the district but also lead to economic empowerment and self-sufficiency among the youth.
The inauguration event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Neelam Singh from JSW Foundation, HOD (Civil) Mihir Mishra, and CSR Head Vishal Raj. The event was presided over by Gosala President Sandeep Awasthi.
