Cuttack, Odisha : On the day meant to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters, a young man lost his life in a road accident in Cuttack district. The victim, identified as Rajendra Narayan Sahu, son of Baman Sahu from Balimi in Dhenkanal district, was on his way home to tie the Rakhi when tragedy struck.
According to reports, near the Launch Land Hotel in Bentapada panchayat under Athagarh police limits, a truck loaded with stone crushed Rajendra. The impact was so severe that he died on the spot. Eyewitnesses said the accident sparked tension in the area, with locals immediately detaining the truck owner and handing him over to the police.
Athagarh police reached the scene, seized the body, and initiated an investigation. The shocking incident, occurring on the auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan, has cast a pall of grief and anger over the entire region, with residents expressing deep sorrow over the loss of life and outrage at reckless driving.
