New Delhi : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday encouraged students of Navy Children School (NCS), Delhi, to uphold a strong sense of national pride and highlighted the importance of discipline, service, and patriotism in shaping their character and aspirations.
As part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of NCS, Rajnath Singh interacted with students and the school Principal at his South Block office. Addressing the students, he urged them to dream purposefully, pursue their goals with sincerity, and fulfill their duties with honesty and respect, while staying humble yet strong.
The Defence Minister praised NCS for its role in nurturing students’ character during formative years and acknowledged the broader contribution of schools under the Ministry of Defence to nation-building. He emphasised that these institutions are not just centres of learning but platforms that instill leadership, integrity, and responsibility in the next generation.
During the event, officials from the Defence Ministry received a brief overview of NCS’s vision and achievements. Students shared their experiences on how the school supports their holistic development and presented handcrafted tokens of respect, a Coffee Table Book, and the school crest to the Raksha Mantri.
Earlier, Rajnath Singh stressed the importance of ‘Atmanirbharta’ (self-reliance) in India’s defence sector, calling it a “condition for survival and progress” in the 21st century. He highlighted that dependence on foreign countries for defence needs is “not an option” for India amid the evolving geopolitical scenario.
The Defence Minister pointed out that this century has proven highly unstable and challenging due to pandemics, terrorism, and regional conflicts. He stated, “In such circumstances, today’s strategic requirements make Atmanirbharta not just an advantage but a necessity.”
Through his address, Rajnath Singh reinforced the significance of nurturing patriotism, discipline, and leadership among students, aiming to prepare them as responsible citizens and future leaders of India.
