New Delhi : In a powerful address in the Lok Sabha, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that India had successfully thwarted multiple Pakistani missile strikes and hinted that a repeat of the historic “Operation Sindoor” remains a possibility if provoked.
Speaking on the recent Operation Sindoor, Singh revealed that the Indian Army launched the operation on the night of May 6–7 in retaliation to a barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where civilians were brutally killed in the name of religion.
The Defence Minister stated, “After the inhuman incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with the chiefs of the three armed forces and gave them complete operational freedom. Our forces did not retreat they entered terrorist hideouts and eliminated the culprits. This was not just a military action; it was a tribute to our mothers and sisters, whose sindoor we avenged.”
Singh further disclosed that between May 7 and 10, Pakistan had launched missile attacks targeting Indian military bases. However, India’s advanced defense systems successfully neutralized all incoming threats, leaving Pakistan’s aggression in vain.
He also emphasized that India had achieved its objectives and thus chose not to escalate further military action against Pakistan. “We were not restrained by external pressure. We held back only because we had already accomplished our strategic goals,” he said.
On the morning of May 10, the Indian Air Force carried out a decisive strike on Pakistani airfields, which reportedly forced Pakistan to back down and request a ceasefire through Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) talks.
As Parliament resumes discussions after two sessions were adjourned, Operation Sindoor has taken center stage. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh initiated the debate with his statement, and the Parliament is expected to deliberate on the matter for a marathon 16-hour session.
