Jaipur : Panic gripped Jaisalmer on Diwali night after a mysterious explosion rocked a marble factory in the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Limited (RICO) industrial area, located near the India-Pakistan border. This event soon made headlines as the Rajasthan Explosion News spread rapidly.
The blast occurred late Monday night, startling factory workers and nearby residents. Initially, factory worker Arjundas thought the loud noise was a Diwali firecracker. However, he soon noticed a hole in the tin roof and a small fire on the floor, which he extinguished, unaware of the potential danger linked to what would later be covered by Rajasthan Explosion News outlets.
The next morning, he discovered a heavy metallic object on the factory floor, marked “51 mm” and “ILLG,” with a parachute nearby suggesting it descended slowly before impact. Alarmed, Arjundas informed the factory owner, who immediately contacted local authorities.
Kotwali Police Officer Premdan Ratanu sealed off the site and called the Indian Army for assessment. Preliminary reports suggest the object could be a military illumination shell, a projectile used to light up areas during nighttime operations. Authorities, however, are awaiting a detailed report from Army specialists.
The factory’s proximity to the international border has heightened concerns. Security agencies are exploring the possibility of a cross-border misfire, accidental drift, or other military origins. Residents have been urged to stay alert and report any suspicious objects.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are treating the incident with utmost seriousness. Meanwhile, the unusual explosion has left locals anxious and prompted increased vigilance in the border area.
