Bhubaneswar : The Puri stampede probe report has been officially submitted to Odisha Chief Minister by Development Commissioner Anu Garg. The report outlines the findings of the investigation into the tragic incident and provides recommendations for improving crowd management and safety measures during major public events in Puri.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of June 29, claimed the lives of three devotees and left several others injured. In the wake of the tragedy, the state government had constituted a special independent inquiry team led by the Development Commissioner to probe the matter thoroughly.
A total of 67 witness statements were recorded as part of the inquiry, with testimonies gathered in both Puri and Bhubaneswar. The four-member team included senior OAS (Odisha Administrative Service) officers.
The deadline for submission of the report was set for July 30, and the commission successfully completed its task within the stipulated time. The report includes detailed accounts, findings, and recommendations based on the statements and on-ground assessment.
