Professor Gokulananda Das Passes Away at 87

Bhubaneswar: Professor Gokulananda Das, former Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University and a distinguished mathematician, passed away at his residence in Bhubaneswar at the age of 87. His wife, two sons, and daughter were by his side.

Professor Das led Utkal University as Vice-Chancellor from 1998 to 2001. Prior to that, he served in several key roles in the university’s Department of Mathematics. He also headed the Mathematics and Applied Institute in Bhubaneswar and actively collaborated with the Odisha Mathematical Society.

Throughout his career, Professor Das earned numerous awards, including the prestigious Samanta Chandra Sekhar Award for his outstanding contributions to mathematics. To honor his legacy, the “Gokulananda Das Research Award” encourages and supports mathematicians and researchers in Odisha.

Professor Gokulananda Das Passes Away at 87
