Bhubaneswar : Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, undertook a significant field visit to Bayan Gram, the vibrant textile village in Jayapur Raghunathpur Block, and the Amruta Dairy Unit, engaging with artisans, women entrepreneurs, and local communities as part of the government’s rural development outreach.
At Bayan Gram, she interacted with local weavers to assess the potential for decentralized weaving operations, aimed at boosting productivity and operational efficiency. Discussions highlighted the need for stronger market linkages and strategic branding initiatives to enhance the visibility and profitability of the region’s unique handloom products.
Later, during her visit to the Amruta Dairy Unit, Smt. Padhee met with Self-Help Group (SHG) members to explore integrating their dairy operations with OMFED, a move expected to scale up production and ensure better income opportunities for women-led enterprises.
The visit also included an open dialogue with local residents to understand pressing civic concerns, including access to affordable housing, healthcare, and essential public services. The Principal Secretary assured the community of the government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive and sustainable rural development.
