New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday led the nation in paying heartfelt homage to India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and the legendary “Iron Man,” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on his 150th birth anniversary. This event was marked by President Murmu’s tribute to Sardar Patel. The day, celebrated across the country as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), highlighted Patel’s unmatched role in uniting India’s diverse regions.

In her post on X, President Murmu tribute to Sardar Patel came with a powerful appeal to the citizens. She wrote,

“Sardar Patel was a great patriot, visionary leader, and nation-builder who accomplished the historic task of unifying the country through his unwavering resolve and courageous leadership. Therefore, on this National Unity Day, let us unite and resolve to build a strong, harmonious, and excellent India.”

Moreover, the President paid floral tributes at a solemn ceremony in New Delhi, reaffirming the nation’s gratitude for Patel’s enduring contributions to India’s unity and progress.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also honoured the “Iron Man of India.” He described Sardar Patel as the architect of India’s integration, stating that “he was the driving force behind the country’s unity and strength.” Furthermore, the Prime Minister’s video address reflected Patel’s unique ability to unite people with diverse ideologies.

“He merged the princely states, strengthened the freedom movement, and awakened the mantra of unity in diversity,” Modi said.

In addition, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar paid their tributes, emphasizing Patel’s role in shaping India’s integrity and democratic fabric.

Across India, citizens participated enthusiastically in Run for Unity events and community programs. Consequently, streets and campuses echoed with patriotic chants celebrating Patel’s timeless message of strength through togetherness.

Ultimately, President Murmu tribute to Sardar Patel served as a reminder that unity remains the foundation of India’s strength. Indeed, as the nation honours Patel’s vision, it also renews its commitment to building an inclusive, resilient, and prosperous India.
