Bhubaneswar, Odisha: The political campaign in Nuapada has intensified, with high-profile leaders taking center stage. The bypoll has seen parties actively woo voters. Meanwhile, senior leaders engage in sharp exchanges during public meetings and rallies. At the heart of the political slugfest are two heavyweight leaders: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida of the Lotus party and BJD state women wing President and candidate Snehangini Chhuria. They have exchanged serious allegations.

In the Nuapada bypoll, BJP has mobilized senior leaders to support its candidate Jay Dholkia. Pravati Parida is playing a key role in the campaign. During her rallies, she targeted both Congress and BJD. She claimed that they focus more on talks than work and are misleading voters. She emphasized that the Double Engine government remains committed to development. Pravati asserted that the people of Nuapada have recognized the false promises of Congress and BJD. She confidently predicted BJP’s victory.

Targeting BJD candidate Snehangini, Pravati alleged that,

the party had no strong local candidate. This forced them to select an outsider. She added that after marriage, a girl’s in-laws are often considered outsiders. Likewise, her maternal uncle’s house is seen as a guest home. Pravati urged voters not to fall for such misleading campaigns.

Responding to Pravati’s allegations, Snehangini Chhuria claimed,

the BJP government failed to fulfill its promises, particularly regarding women’s self-reliance programs. She said initiatives like “Lakshpati Didi” remain unfulfilled, and accused the Lotus party of misleading women voters with false promises. Snehangini highlighted the good governance and development projects undertaken by the BJD over the past 24 years.

Political parties have decorated the roads and streets of Nuapada with banners. This makes the campaigns of star leaders and the Pravati Parida vs Snehangini clash a hot topic across the district and state politics.
