In a remarkable display of resilience, India’s para badminton star Pramod Bhagat made a triumphant return to international competition by winning the Men’s Singles SL3 gold medal at the China Para Badminton International 2025.
This victory marked his comeback after an 18-month hiatus and solidified his status as one of India’s top para athletes.
Bhagat faced Indonesia’s Muh Al Imran in the final, losing the first set 21-15. However, he staged a comeback, winning the next two sets 21-19 and 21-16. This gold medal was especially significant for Bhagat, who had missed the Paris Paralympics due to three whereabouts failures.
Alongside Sukant Kadam, he also competed in the Men’s Doubles event, earning a silver medal after a close match against fellow Indians Jagadesh Dilli and Naveen Sivakumar, with scores of 18-21, 22-20, and 18-21.
Reflecting on his achievement, Bhagat expressed gratitude to his coaches and supporters, stating, “This gold medal is very special for me. Coming back after 18 months is a priceless feeling. This is just the beginning of my comeback story.”
The Para Sports Association of Odisha lauded Bhagat’s success, declaring it an inspiration to all athletes. His victory at the China Para Badminton International 2025 signals the start of an exciting new chapter in his career.
